Fashion hits and misses of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt & Other Bolloywood Ladies

The Indian Express has a nice write-up on the fashion hits and misses of the leading ladies of Bollywood including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt.

HIT: Priyanka Chopra, who was recently seen attending the UNICEF press conference in Delhi, was clad in a striking electric blue jumpsuit from Missoni’s Spring/Summer’18 collection. Featuring wide trousers, it had a shirt-styled bodice and was cinched at the waist with a matching tie detail that accentuated Chopra’s svelte figure. Celebrity stylist Ami Patel, who curated the look did a great job by keeping her accessories minimal. She teamed her outfit with a pair of red and white pointed-toe heels by Fendi. Now, pairing red shoes with a blue outfit could have been difficult to pull off, but the actor managed to do it effortlessly. Hairstylist and make-up artist Florian Hurel rounded off her look with a nude make-up palette, light brown smokey eyes, matte lips and a soft wavy hairdo. We think it was the right choice to keep her make-up neutral since the outfit is bright. (Source: Express Photo by Varinder Chawla)

HIT: While attending an event in Mumbai, Shilpa Shetty opted for a white sleeveless top from Massimo Dutti, which she styled with a long sarong-style, yellow skirt from French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus’ Spring/Summer’18 collection ‘La Bomb’. The asymmetric skirt featured a thigh-high slit and a draped, ruffle detail on the waist, which added an interesting twist to it. Celebrity stylist Mohit Rai, who curated the look accessorised her outfit with a colourful pendant, a statement ring from Swarovski and white pointed toe heels from Kurt Geiger. Make-up artist Ajay Shehlar rounded off her look with a nude make-up palette, well-defined eyes, and red lips while hairstylist Sheetal F Khan opted for soft, wavy manes styled in a centre-parted manner. MISS: Kangana Ranaut was spotted in a curious blend of Victorian fashion and modern tones for Neeta Lulla’s store launch in Delhi. The actor was dressed in a delicate ivory lace blouse with a generous spattering of ruffles across the front. A pussy bow and flared sleeve hems added an interesting detail to the opulent attire. While we have ‘heart eyes’ for the blouse, the pants were a big letdown. Heavily embellished with floral applique work on them, the pair was too blingy and we wish the Queen actor had gone with something more subtle. She kept her make-up palette nude with neutral glossy lips and rounded out her look with her rich mane of soft curls. (Source: Express Photo by Varinder Chawla)

HIT: Kareena Kapoor Khan was at the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards on Tuesday, where she was felicitated with the title of ‘Power Icon’. Dressing up for the part, the Veere Di Wedding actor looked beautiful draped in a canary yellow sari right off the shelves of Masaba Gupta’s Summer/Festive 2018 collection. The chanderi sari with tribal vase pleats and kalash khadi pallu was teamed with a vibrant magenta blouse and stylist Tanya Ghavri accessorised the enthralling look with a pair of gold statement earrings from Shri Ram Hari Ram Jewellers, a statement ring and a pretty black bindi. So simple, yet sophisticated. Make-up artist Subbu chose a nude palette for the actor, which was complemented with neutral lips and accentuated by finely kohl-lined eyes. Kareena rounded out her look with hair coiffed into a sleek bun. (Source: Express Photo by Varinder Chawla)

HIT: At a promotional event of Raazi, Alia Bhatt was clad in a lovely badla and pearl embroidered peachy organic bamboo kurta teamed with pearl-edged straight pants and dupatta from designer Varsha Wadhwa. Patel chose to keep the tenor of the look minimalistic and thus gave accessories a miss. The 25-year-old rounded out her look with nude make-up which blended in well with her subtle look. She chose to semi-pin her hair up, looking gracious as ever. (Source: shnoy09/Instagram)

HIT: Priyanka Chopra, who was in India for a short while, stepped out looking stunning as ever in an ivory and nude shaded anarkali by designer Manish Malhotra. While attending a book launch in Delhi, the Quantico star was seen in a floral lacework anarkali featuring three-quarter sleeves and a round neck, which was teamed with a matching semi-sheer dupatta that had beautiful fringe detail on the hem. Styled by Ami Patel, the accessories were kept minimal with a pair of gold statement earrings and a ring. Just like her outfit, we couldn’t find any fault with the make-up and hairdo. A nude palette with well-defined eyes and soft wavy hair rounded off her look. We like how the marsala lip shade added a pop of colour to her light-hued outfit. HIT: Karisma Kapoor, who was spotted attending a store launch in Chennai opted for a skirt, tee and jacket combo, all from the American brand, Coach. The outfit included a silver shimmery skirt, which was styled with a white tee featuring shimmer details on it and a black leather jacket that too had shiny, quirky prints on it. With the weekend just around the corner, if you are thinking of what to wear to your party, then you can easily recreate Kapoor’s glittery look. Stylist Esha Amiin accessorised her outfit with a pair of ankle-length, black strappy heels. A braided updo with a dewy palette make-up, well-defined eyes and glossy lips gave finishing touches to her look. (Source: eshaamiin1/Instagram)

HIT: Alia Bhatt stepped out in an Anita Dongre anarkali set recently, and we couldn’t help but admire Bhatt’s understated style statement, which we think was ideal to step out on a warm summer day. For the promotions of her upcoming movie, Raazi, Bhatt wore a cool blue piece from Dongre’s ‘Songs of Summer’ SS’18 collection. Stylist Ami Patel accessorised the actor’s look with a pair of silver earrings from Azotiique by Varun Raheja and the actor rounded out her look with minimal make-up and side-parted soft curls. HIT: Esha Gupta attended the launch of her sister Neha Gupta’s Ranian Festive SS’18 collection and she charmed us with her ethnic avatar in a very trendy sunshine yellow sari. The 32-year-old opted for a semi-sheer sari with a floral embellished border from the same and her look was accessorised with a pair of gold danglers from KAJ Jewellery. She rounded out her look with nude make-up, neutral lips and highlighted brows. As much as we like the pretty sari, what really caught our attention was the funky hairdo that complemented it. With hair coiffed into a sleek bun, Gupta accessorised it with floral stick ons. (Source: Express Photo by Varinder Chawla)

MISS: While Sushmita Sen manages to leave us impressed with her elegant sartorial choices at most times, her latest outing in a Notte Marchesa number failed to hit the mark. While the former Miss Universe looked her gracious self, the black and white, semi-transparent gown went wrong in more places than one. Here is why. The fine net overlay on the gown has an old English floral lace pattern, peppered with black threadwork polka dots. Now, while we can slightly understand the charm of a vintage pattern, the dots looked way over the top. Additionally, the two panelled-structure of the peplum waist gown would have worked better had the second tier not had the mesh border pattern woven into it. The A-line skirt fell naturally, and sans the polka dot overdose, the dress would have been quite a delight to spot on the 42-year-old.(Source: Express Photo by Varinder Chawla)

HIT: Jacqueline Fernandez opted for a pair of high waisted purple-coloured pants, which she teamed with a white, tucked-in tee. The lighter shade of the tee complemented the bold-hued jeans very well. She further teamed it with a pair of strappy tan heels, a statement watch and retro sunglasses. The look can be a great option for a Sunday brunch or a late night outing with friends. (Source: Express Photo by Varinder Chawla)

HIT: Kajal Aggarwal was recently in attendance at the Zee Apsara Awards 2018 in Hyderabad. For the Sunday night event, the Special 26 actor stepped out in a glamorous black sari with structured ruffle detail from designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. The attention-arresting piece was easily red-carpet worthy and we like how stylist Ami Patel veered off the traditional route and opted for the trendier midriff pallu drape, which is very ‘in’ these days. The semi-sheer sequinned blouse with a scalloped neckline brought in a risque element and Patel accessorised the look with a pair of rings from H Craft Fine Jewellery. Aggarwal opted for dewy tones, nude lips and soft curls to round out her look. (Source: kajalaggarwalofficial/Instagram)

HIT: Kalki Koechlin, who was at an event launch was dressed in a lovely ivory gown from designer Anand Bhushan. The sleeveless creation with a plunging neckline had a leather skirt and a glass foliage bodice which stylists Pranay Jaitly and Shounak Amonkar accentuated with a slim silver belt at the waist. Her look was daintily accessorised with a pair of diamond solitaires and multiple rings. We think it’s really classy. Keeping in line with her muted outfit, the actor sported nude hues for make-up and added a pop of colour with an orange-tinted lip. Koechlin’s look was rounded out with hair coiffed into a high bun and shang bangs. (Source: Express Photo by Varinder Chawla)

HIT: Malaika Arora stepped out in a checked jumpsuit from Ashish N Soni and we think she aced her slick look in the outfit. A round of applause for stylist Maneka Harisinghani for adding definition to the piece with a wide belt tied at the waist. Arora who chose to go sans accessories, rounded out her look with a dewy tone palette, bold red lips and a high ponytail.(Source: malaikaaroraofficial/Instagram)

MISS: Shilpa Shetty opted for a burgundy, thigh-high slit gown from Aroka that featured a draped shoulder on one side and a pleated skirt. It also had a floral silver embroidered design at the waist, which broke the monotony but still failed to complement the attire. Although we love thigh-high slit gowns, we think Shetty looks completely bland here. Furthermore, she styled her outfit with a pair of metallic bronze pumps, studded earrings and a stack of silver bracelets, which couldn’t help save her look. Just like her outfit, we found her makeup equally tedious. A neutral palette with well-defined eyes, nude pink lips, and soft wavy hair rounded off her look. HIT: While attending an awards show, Shruti Haasan grabbed eyeballs in a Pallavi Mohan gown. The heavily embellished ice blue and blush pink piece made up in drama what it lacked in structure. The flowy ensemble with voluminous sleeves did nothing to accentuate the actor’s frame and we wish she had opted for a more subtle outfit. Stylist Shreeja Rajgopal kept it easy in the accessory department with just a pair of gold hoops. A clever choice, we think. (Source: shreejarajgopal/Instagram)

HIT: Sonakshi Sinha was seen wearing a pristine white number by Zara Umrigar. Styled by celebrity stylist Sakshi Mehra Talwar, the outfit featured long sleeves with a semi sheer bodice along with a crystal and pearl embroidered skirt. Giving accessories a complete miss, her look was rounded off with sleek hair styled in a centre-parted manner with a nude make-up palette and well-defined eyes. (Source: zaraumrigar/Instagram)

HIT: Taapsee Pannu was seen in a salmon pink ensemble from Varun Bahl Couture, while attending an awards show. The intricately embroidered piece with a pleated ruffle effect at the hem gave us some fusion vibes. Stylist Devki Bhatt maintained the dainty tone of the outfit by accessorising the look with a pair of diamond earrings and rings from Dillano Luxurious Jewels. Pink-washed lids, deep wine-coloured lips and an elegant chignon rounded out her look prettily. (Source: devs213/Instagram)

MISS: Tamannaah Bhatia, who is usually on top of her style game, seemed to have left it in the back seat as we think her Anamika Khanna outfit failed to impress. Taking a detour from the traditional gowns and saris, the actor chose to go with a fusion outfit. She wore a crop top paired with high-waisted palazzo pants with a generous splatter of striking floral threadwork on it. It was layered with a more muted gold floor-length jacket and we think stylist Sanjana Batra’s experiment missed the mark this time. Though the outfit was disappointing, the actor made up for it with stunning make-up and we like the dewy tones she sported with a hint of a nude-tint on the lips. Softly kohl-lined eyes and highlighted brows added finishing touches to the look. (Source: tamannaahspeaks/Instagram)

HIT: Karisma Kapoor opted for a lovely black Namrata Joshipura outfit. We like the one-shouldered number with a sequinned bodice that was complemented with gold pumps from Alexandre Birman. Stylist Eshaa Amiin styled the look with a pair of ruby red hexagonal shaped Azotiique earrings, which set off the bold red lips the actor sported. A dewy glow and pinned back hair added to the charm. (Source: therealkarismakapoor/Instagram)

Parineeti Chopra was seen in a multi-coloured, striped shirt by Zara, which was paired with a brown faux leather skirt featuring a button detail from Madison on Peddar. While we like her outfit as separate pieces, combined together, it is a complete mismatch. She could have chosen a solid, lighter-hued shirt to go with the shiny skirt. Stylist Sanjana Batra combined her outfit with a pair of gold pointed-toe heels, which also failed to complement her look. Make-up artist Heema Dattani kept her make-up minimal with thickly-lined eyes and pink lips while hairstylist Gohar Shaikh rounded off with centre-parted, wavy hair. (Source: sanjanabatra/Instagram)
